Supernatural Slash Drabble: Overlooked
Title: Overlooked
Author: HalfshellVenus
Characters: Sam/Dean (one-sided Wincest)
Rating: PG-13
Summary: 100-word drabble on "Blind" for supernatural100.

x-x-x-x-x

"Don't you want to—"

"Later, Sammy. Gotta run."

They've spent weeks like this, Sam focused on the two of them (Dean's bargain) and Dean ditching him by the roadside or at a motel while he chases still another one night stand.

Choose me, Sam thinks, but he knows it's hopeless. Dean chose him once, and now he's finished—Sam's return was apparently enough.

Sam wants more, but Dean never sees it. Dean's only looking at the next pretty girl (the last one already forgotten) while Sam stands on the sidelines with all the answers that will never be heard.

Oh Sam, just do it.

It's such a huge leap, though, with nothing but rejection waiting as far as he can see. Because it's his brother after all, Ladies' Man issues aside. :(

Lovely. I think drabbles impress me almost more than long fic, cause there's so much in so few words.

This is the whole S3 missed-Wincest-opportunity arc, right here. *sigh* *kicks Dean and points out Sam, just waiting there*

Ouch. Painful on both sides, even with only Sam's POV here - Dean chose him once hurts, knowing that Dean chose him and then Sam left, and now Sam may never get a chance to get him back.

Oh, I wasn't thinking of the Stanford situation (though that definitely brings the long-term angst, which will never get old for me). More that Dean chose to resurrect Sam at the expense of himself, but seems so painfully disinterested in him now. Whereas for Sam, knowing what he's going to lose (and when it's coming) is focusing that in an entirely different direction. *sighs for S3*

Ah, I gotcha, and oddly I think lately I tend to block out that aspect of their emtional distance from one another - guess I'm still stuck on Sam leaving for college, even though he's been back for a couple years now :p

But yes, it's hard to watch Dean blowing through his last year of life without any aparent interest in spending any of it with Sam. It's almost as bad (if not actually worse) as if Dean was already deadd.

"Choose me,"

Ouch that hurt! Lovely as always-*runs off to read your PB fic*

Ouch that hurt!
And Dean hasn't even really been choosing to pay that much attention to Sam, let alone really see and embrace all that he could have. *sniffle*

Great line. I love it when phrases and words stay the same but take on different meanings depending on how the author shapes them--Sam's interpretation of choice vs. Dean's; love vs. life.

Yes, that was it exactly! Sam wants to be chosen for loving, but Dean apparently only chose to bring him back-- and has been almost disinterested in him thus far in S3. How much worse that would be if Sam wanted even more from Dean than Dean realizes?

Seriously, what is up with that?

Eeeee the hurty hurt! Love it.

Ahhh Dean, you are so blind but then again Sam should take the bull by the horns so to speak and jump Dean's bones.

I liked this and alot can be portrayed with just a few words.

Thank you! Oh drabbles-- they'll train you to be precise AND concise, that's for sure.

They don't train you to spew out volumes of longer stories, unfortunately-- more to refine the shorter works, if anything.

*wants S3 to bring us more love* I'm pained, as you might guess, by weeks of, "I saved your ass and I've got a year left to live because of it, so could you step aside while I make my moves on this babe now? You're in my way." :(

This made me sad.
It also made me think. Sam, just throw him down and f*ck his brains out he'd never know what hit him.

It was just one thought! :)

That seems to be the consensus of a lot of readers! That despite Sam's worries, Dean's feeling all the same things though he'd never admit it.

Ooooh, I really like this! Especially since so much one-sided wincest is Dean the one all conflicted, I really like seeing one where it's Sam.

And I REALLY like this line: "Dean chose him once, and now he's finished—Sam's return was apparently enough."

I can definitely understand why it tends to be Dean, too, since he seems to be the one that "loves more." But it's nice to flip it around the other way sometimes-- with Sam watching Dean sleep with random women from one side of the country to the next and having it just eat away at him.

"Dean chose him once, and now he's finished—Sam's return was apparently enough."
Oh, god. Early Season 3 is entirely responsible for that line-- I wanted to smack Dean something fierce again and again. "Glad you're back Sammy. Now get out of the car, I've got places to be." :(
