Supernatural Gen Drabble: This Beckons
Title: This Beckons
Author: HalfshellVenus
Character: ? (Gen)
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: But of course.
Summary: For the 100_ghosts challenge on "sloth": It cannot bestir itself…

x-x-x-x-x

There's a golden-haired child with a heart like blue-sky morning up above on a grassy hill.

Its essence would be delicious— all sweet brightness cutting through the trail of murk.

The last horde of acquisitions was filling but base: terrorists and torturers, mass-murderers and pedophiles, zealots burning with righteous hatred. Blackened souls bring little reward, for they are plentiful and self-offering. Purity is precious— delectable— for it must be hunted… stolen… destroyed.

The conquest beckons, but this lava-hot crevice in the rock is soothing and steamy.

Above, the child twirls in the sun.

Down below, the darkness waits another day…

Vivid line. Hm, is the child meant to be a small Mary? Or is this intended more generally unspeakable in the SPN verse?

Anyway, this was memorable and creepy.

It's just generalized evil-- the POV of the kind of unnamed Dark Being that waits to steal children.

Part of the larger mystery of the Supernatural unknown...

creepy! but in a good way.

(i thought the blond kid was an unknown small child, and this was set about the same time as current canon. like, the demon's dead but that doesn't mean there isn't other evil out there waiting.)

Yes, that's it exactly. It's an unnamed evil waiting for its next victim (here, too lazy to take it). One of so many unknown things going on in the SPN universe that we never even see...

Nicely menacing tone. And you're so good to give us a happy ending.

Today.... ;)

Though as parent, I know the creepy factor in this is a lot higher. Yipes!

Nicely creepy, vivid imagery here. Good drabble!

Thank you, Rinne! That was the most fun part of it-- the decription kind of fed the concept, if you know what I mean.

It's definitely a different kind of POV from the usual-- right down to how that creature perceives the child above, compared to what we would notice ourselves. Creeeeepy...

with a heart like blue-sky morning

oh wow I love that, i love this whole thing.
i get so excited when drabbles aren't explicitly about the boys, because they're all I seem to be able to write :)

excellent work!!

:D You picked my favorite line out of the whole drabble. I think to an evil creature such as the one shown here, that "flavor" of heart would be completely tangible in exactly that way.

Not the way we think, which is the point really.

I'm glad you like the off-character setting, too-- a lot of people don't really go for that, but I like getting some variety in who/what is speaking for the drabbles. Once, it was The Scarecrow. :0
