Of pedaling and poetry

Still working through that Hell Quarterly story, and looks like I'm going to make it! *huge relieved sigh*

Meanwhile, not checking LJ frequently enough has caused me to miss out on a prompt-claiming fury at spn_harlequin. I'm so much more email-activated than f-list-activated. :(

Nifty Tip: This idea came to me yesterday, after fixing a flat tire on a bike ride, and it turns out that it works: if you've got grease/tire mess on your hands, rub them all over with hand lotion and rinse before washing with soap and water. The lotion pulls the grease stains right off!

Today's cycling: An adventure ride of searching for the pedestrian overpass crossing I-80, part of my investigation into bicycle-commuting. Found it! However, the route from it to the office goes through two questionable sub-areas of Sacramento, over a few hills, and through a bazillion stoplights. Also also covers 9-10 miles on this side of the freeway alone. Hmmmm....

Poetry: Dug up some Ogden Nash for a poetry project Lauren has in class. This poem cracked me up, although hardly anyone else seems to find it as funny as I do. Nevertheless:
     The Octopus
     Tell me, O Octopus, I begs
     Is those things arms, or is they legs?
     I marvel at thee, Octopus;
     If I were thou, I'd call me Us.

Also, for my Supernatural friends, just because it exists, The Wendigo :0
