I'm trying to balance excited with not being offputting with the squee, so how'm I doing? *squeeeeee~~~!*
The other horses I backed didn't do as well as I expected or wanted.
Hope to post some banners up appropriately with their fics (I want to use the "Best Slash Author" banner for my Lincoln/Michael fic page, but I'll have to see if it can be revised first. It's not Slash right now, and is kind of the anti-Slash in fact.
On last night's Prison Break: Michael got dumber, Lincoln got hotter, T-Bag got more homicidal (this sounds exactly like last week so far, doesn't it?) But Mahone got less crazy, Sara wore too much eye makeup and was too distraught to part her hair like a grownup, and *sob* Kellerman did a 180 in his characterization in service of the plot. :(
I was jolted to see that there's only one more episode left this Season, because it doesn't feel like the Season ender is coming up at all Quite the opposite-- it feels like there are barely enough legs for the show to stand on right now, and I guess they need to draw it out to another year. Have we really hit 22 episodes? Maybe we all just need a break so that Sara Wayne Callies can have her baby in peace.
My frustration with the show has really grown this Season, basically watching the characters become pawns in service of the plot. This week's Kellerman was a prime example-- do the writers not understand that he's a sociopath? And that a Come-to-Jesus moment isn't possible there? To go from being up on a building ledge with a rifle "a week" ago to where he was last night... that doesn't make sense for that character. He could serve the plot's direction by being bitter instead of "reformed" just as easily.
Michael's character has been all over the map this season. He really IS Sara's secret crybaby now (that was a joke in a poll I put up months ago, but... not really a joke now, is it?) He has moments of sheer genius, but now they're often to make up for his moments of incredible stupidity. Last night's episode was a prime example. :(
In a way, I'm glad to see the Season end. At this point, canon is absolutely killing my Prison Break muse. It is SO MUCH easier to write for this show when the characterizations aren't being bastardized on a weekly basis. I can get character consistency much more easily in my head when canon isn't shooting holes through it every week.
*Sigh* My Michael & Lincoln Gen pieces have been heading more toward pre-series or early Season 2 at most, and clearly there's a reason for that. Maybe I'll try to work more from there.
For the Michael/Lincoln Slash, I think I'm going to go mostly pre-Series and AU altogether. I really love writing them as Slash, but I don't recognize the Season 2 characters at all, and I'm sure Season 3 is only going to get worse. I think
