PB Awards squee, Sweet Charity followup, and the rest
Eeeeee! I did win some awards during the last Prison Break Fic Awards, including Best Slash Author and Best Slash Story (Icicle Palace). Also the T-Bag vs. Lincoln humor piece for Best T-Bag! This was a big thrill especially after not being nominated for Slash at all last time around, which was kind of heartbreak after writing so much of it.

I'm trying to balance excited with not being offputting with the squee, so how'm I doing? *squeeeeee~~~!*

The other horses I backed didn't do as well as I expected or wanted. gatheringlight did win for "Boyfriend" (best L/V)-- it was one of three really good stories that I nominated for that category. I was hoping to see ferrynheit's "Good Therapy" win in the Comedy/Crack section, and miss_mandy's "Vivid" (Best Villain nominee) and alazysod's "If I Should Fall From Grace With God" (Best Drabble nominee). Bunches of terrific nominations all around, but these were standouts in their respective categories.

Hope to post some banners up appropriately with their fics (I want to use the "Best Slash Author" banner for my Lincoln/Michael fic page, but I'll have to see if it can be revised first. It's not Slash right now, and is kind of the anti-Slash in fact.

On last night's Prison Break: Michael got dumber, Lincoln got hotter, T-Bag got more homicidal (this sounds exactly like last week so far, doesn't it?) But Mahone got less crazy, Sara wore too much eye makeup and was too distraught to part her hair like a grownup, and *sob* Kellerman did a 180 in his characterization in service of the plot. :(

I was jolted to see that there's only one more episode left this Season, because it doesn't feel like the Season ender is coming up at all Quite the opposite-- it feels like there are barely enough legs for the show to stand on right now, and I guess they need to draw it out to another year. Have we really hit 22 episodes? Maybe we all just need a break so that Sara Wayne Callies can have her baby in peace.

My frustration with the show has really grown this Season, basically watching the characters become pawns in service of the plot. This week's Kellerman was a prime example-- do the writers not understand that he's a sociopath? And that a Come-to-Jesus moment isn't possible there? To go from being up on a building ledge with a rifle "a week" ago to where he was last night... that doesn't make sense for that character. He could serve the plot's direction by being bitter instead of "reformed" just as easily.

Michael's character has been all over the map this season. He really IS Sara's secret crybaby now (that was a joke in a poll I put up months ago, but... not really a joke now, is it?) He has moments of sheer genius, but now they're often to make up for his moments of incredible stupidity. Last night's episode was a prime example. :(

In a way, I'm glad to see the Season end. At this point, canon is absolutely killing my Prison Break muse. It is SO MUCH easier to write for this show when the characterizations aren't being bastardized on a weekly basis. I can get character consistency much more easily in my head when canon isn't shooting holes through it every week.

*Sigh* My Michael & Lincoln Gen pieces have been heading more toward pre-series or early Season 2 at most, and clearly there's a reason for that. Maybe I'll try to work more from there.

For the Michael/Lincoln Slash, I think I'm going to go mostly pre-Series and AU altogether. I really love writing them as Slash, but I don't recognize the Season 2 characters at all, and I'm sure Season 3 is only going to get worse. I think deadbeat_nymph said it best here-- rewatch Season 1 over and over to get a feel for the brothers and their love (in any context), and just stick with that. Sounds like a plan.

For Sweet Charity, I am owned! The tenacious monotonygirl won me in the Fic services bidding (I await her Supreme Orders now), and jasmasson won my Beta services in heavily contested bidding that would have been gold no matter who won-- anteka's Plastic Winchester Theatre, missyjack's Supernatural anything (porn, meta, drama, crack), callmetofu's Lincoln/Michael goodness, and jasmasson's J-squared and Supernatural stuff. There were no bad options there! Whoo!

In this week's Spam Email contest, I have these entries (the random comment spam for "Hawaiian cruise" to one of my fic entries doesn't count):
mildew one-night stand
plum drizzle
Urgh. I'll pretend I didn't see those, because I need my porn muse for pheebs1 right now. And good thing I don't really write Het... :0

Back to your regularly scheduled program, with 50% less Spam-botting of LJ entries from me compared to this weekend. I was a writing demon these last few days. :)

I too want a mildew one night stand!!

Congrats on winning :) And on being owned :D

Oh, boy. I've never been a one-night stand kind of person, and perhaps the fear of "mildew" explains it all!

Thanks for the award congrats! And the chance to be bossed around at will by someone else-- which I know you're always in favor of, since getting people to write random plotbunnies was always a favorite. :)
The Good, The Bad and The Lanathelana on March 27th, 2007 05:26 pm (UTC)
I totally would have bought you if I had just had a good idea to torture you with. Well and if you weren't too damn expensive. ;p

Besides, if I had a bunny to torture you with, I would totally claim that you still owe me for the 10 Eurocents ;D

Just kidding, you know I always want people to take my bunnies freely :D

It's too bad that I only realized so late that they also offer videos. Because while I don't really have a fandom where I'm desperate for fic for at the moment (well, at least none that were offered ;p) and I don't really care that much about art and icons, maybe getting a video would have been nice. Alas, too late!

Two bad that the actions are just twice a year.

I agree with what you said about Michael, Lincoln and T-Bag- dumber hotter and homicidal-er. LOL

While I also agree Kellerman made way too much of a switch, and if he was gonna go that route, the old 'oh-my-gun-jammed-it-must-be-a-miracle to save him was a bit much. But he sure looked fine in his uniform, and all his spiffy medals lined up like that were really sad.
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors: PB Casthalfshellvenus on March 28th, 2007 04:55 pm (UTC)
The uniform part of that was good, not just because he was all dressed up and looking fine, but because we got a clear view of his Armed Forces background there (and he was highly decorated).

But from the character standpoint... who is this now? :(

Thank you Dot! And it's not even your fandom. :) ♥

CLAPCLAPCLAPCLAPCLAP! *twirls around, throws confetti* Congratulations, babe! I'm so glad you won! Not that you need an award to know this, but you're very deserving of the recognition! I'm so very happy for you! You won, you won, you won!

Heeeeee, but so did I. I've been giving it some thought, but I am plowed under with grad school stuff until tomorrow night, so a more articulate response will come later in the week, promise. Promise! I've been looking over your stuff (I have it in a binder so I can read it even when the internets won't cooperate), and trying to craft an articulate response, when all I really want to do is squeeeeeeeee and jump around. Sorry it's so late in coming; I'm just not that bossy (but I will cop to the tenacity, heee)!
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors: SN Lovershalfshellvenus on March 28th, 2007 04:58 pm (UTC)
Thank you, monotonygirl! On both accounts. :)

Ooh, if you're looking over past stories, then you'll probably get a good feel for what you'd like me to write for you, so yay!

Later in the week is soon enough, and I hope I've got a good long time to write it (when the stories get long, as they sometimes do, they get hard to finish! Gosh, "Mapping The Tides" took 5 weeks!)

Wow, what a happy celebrate-y time in fandom right now *__* Awards are over, Sweet Charity is over, Big Bang is just around the corner... Good time :D:D:D:D

Good times indeed, and congrats on your award!

And the semester's coming to a close, so even though it's stress-stress-stress, there's an end in sight. :)

I have given up on Prison Break myself. The only reason I kept watching season 2 after the first few episodes was my addiction to Robert Knepper.

P.S. I friended you.
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors: PB Final Hughalfshellvenus on April 14th, 2007 06:46 am (UTC)
I just don't know if I'll make it to Season 3 on it. Season 2 nearly killed me dead-- the out-of-character writing and conspiracy-flail was absolutely awful. Hard to keep the characters firm in your mind even as the show's writers are scattering them in all different directions!

P.S. I friended you.
Please, make yourself at home! There'll be something around to enjoy on a fairly regular basis-- lots of Supernatural if nothing else. :)
