Who What Where When Why...

Oh, what a weekend. Too much RL, and some worries about the PBFE deadline being a week away and (prior to a blastogram) not having any notion what 34 of the 40 authors were doing and whether they might finish on time. Feeling better now with so many updates.

On wank Friday (don't ask), the lovely musesfool started up a Love Meme in her journal. I was too late to comment for anyone there (never had LJ kick me out for an entry being over the comment limit before!), but mercurybard kindly posted my name up there. The comments you wonderful ladies left for me were so sweet-- they put such a big smile on my face, and I could actually feel that "down in the heart" tingling sensation we allude to when something "gets you right here." ♥ ♥ ♥ *happy sigh*

That was definitely the highlight of my weekend. :)

Girl Scout cookies came in for our troop, and I spent what seems the entire weekend collating, bagging, and delivering with Lauren and the little red wagon. This will be her last year to do really well, since we have a boatload of scouts in our neighborhood and our limited territory now has two new scouts coming up that we'll share orders with. 300 boxes this year (also my office and my husband's office), and that is a LOT of cookies. Also a lot of walking and standing. :( My plans to run yesterday got changed to biking because my feet were trashed.

Exercise update: I'm still coming back from the plantar fasciitus (foot arch injury) that has waylaid almost three years of my life. I'm able to walk long distances now, and actually took up running again very slowly just before Christmas. I can run for about 30 minutes, and that is huge-- at the worst point, I had to be careful of where I parked the car and budget every step I took over the day. Days like yesterday, thought, where combined sitting/standing hit 4.5 consecutive hours plus another hour later... it's clear that the problem isn't entirely healed. :( We have a trip to Disneyland coming up over Spring Break, and I'm a little worried about it. Last time (2 years ago), I had to rent a wheelchair, and the trips to/from the shuttle bus were too long. I don't think this'll be a wheelchair year, but the standing in lines gets devastating (my husband's hip is just trashed, and gets more arthritic every year, and now two of us have problems). It's also times like that when you notice that there are not enough places to sit down! God, I hate this. We used to manage by me rushing around the park getting Fast Passes for everything, and trying low-use periods for the rides. Not sure that's going to fly. :(

Biking the last two days-- gorgeous weather (high 60s!), minimal wind. I had a trip planned Friday instead, but the 18mph winds pretty much killed that yet again. My working-at-home Fridays are far too windy! Also, in a stroke of irony, there's too much wildlife in our nature area now, at least for cyclists. Deer are bolting across the bike path often, way too many random turkeys, and soon the squirrels will be out (gah-- they are a menace). The increase in "prey" now means that the coyote population is way up too, and they're starting to go over the levee toward people's yards. There will be missing cats soon, and diseases getting spread to the dog/cat population from that.

Last thing: the first Vote-off Round of the Prison Break Fic Awards ends on March 7th, so if you haven't placed your votes, please do so soon!
