Poem: if e. e. cummings

if e. e. cummings

if in these drifting thoughts(sleep-scattered
or day-dissembled)there is intent
to seek or say, i would(you
and i)find sweet purpose and
the strength of all strengths
to tap in keystrokes and soft
dream words the bluest skies
    greenest meadows
        richest earth
and all we know

we sing(now rise the chorus)the songs
and the dearest(loveliest)hardest(darkest)
shall flow forth to live among

   (now rise the chorus)

This is my official announcement of my entry into LJ Idol Season 10.

Thank you, Dan! It occurred to me that things like poetry (and weird punctuation and line breaks) probably don't translate well for the visually impaired, but I'm hoping it still seemed good.

Glad you're back in, too! Now we just have to make sure you stay in more than a couple of weeks-- I want to be reading more entries!

Yeah, for speech only users the punctuation and spacing might not be communicated, but I use a braille display, and so "usually" get feedback on those kinds of things. Not, you understand, that I always understand them, but that's a totally different issue. *grin*

"Now we just have to make sure you stay in more than a couple of weeks"

Hahaha, you're echoing my own internal pep talks now. Stop that!

Very cool poem, nicely style-resonant without seeming imitative. :-)

Thank you! I don't know why the urge to write my official sign-up in the style of cummings came up, but I haven't tried him before, so why not?

Some of the punctuation is a little more irksome than I remembered-- not always easy to read. I added a space in one spot where he wouldn't have, but there were others that tempted me!

Thanks for reading. :)

(Sigh) Yes. Just yes. A perfect, quiet, but certain, yes.

It would be wonderful if you felt like sharing your poetry on Idol. This is simply beautiful.

Thank you very much! At least I won't be coming in from a dead stop. Almost, but not quite. :D

What a great poem! At first I thought it was e.e. cummings -- you fooled me. I will get my revenge. I'm very glad you're back. I know this takes a lot of time, but Idol is better for it.

Haha-- thank you. I know that it took awhile to make it permeate that this wasn't an actual e.e. cummings poem, but late nights are not your friend in the way that they are mine. :D
