Damn. It.
The raccoon that keeps invading our back yard and trying to make off with the cat-food container has finally succeeded in getting the thing open.

This is the container we bought 15 years ago to foil ANOTHER raccoon, who gave up after ripping out the rubber ring under the hatch-locked lid.

Pesky little animals, with their persistent and clever little hands!

This means war. And padlocks. *Grrrrrr*

Racoons always seem like harmless cute little chaps to me.

They are extremely cute, but full of mischief and real pests when it comes to getting into garbage cans or things like pet food. They can be hard to foil-- much too clever for the usual methods!

Damn raccoons. I still haven't forgiven them for having to pull one off my dog last fall.

Eek. That's where you have to be grateful that pets have regular rabies vaccines, because you just never know.

Our cat is outside at night, probably cowering in the garage while the raccoon tries to make off with her food. :O

Oh so very grateful for that rabies vaccine. And truth be told, it wasn't all the raccoon's fault. Sally got between it and its escape route and well. She's a tenacious thing.

Good luck with the raccoon proofing!

Eep. Annoying.

On the other hand, impressive raccoon.

My husband barricaded the food container behind a really heavy container of cat litter, and the thing still was not deterred.

Clearly, it's strong as well as good with its little paws.

I'd hate to see it in person. We spotted some raccoons at Yosemite years ago that had to be 30-pounders. They were larger than many dogs. :O

I'll bet that is EXACTLY what that little monster looks like, too!
