Original Drabble: "Wandering"
Title: Wandering
Original Fiction (Drabble)
Author: HalfshellVenus
Rating: G
Author's Notes: For writers_choice ("Unknown"), and the writerverse prompt, "If sand and salt have the answer."

x-x-x-x-x

There is silence at the edge of the desert, there on the brink of a new horizon.

One step, and you might be lost from the world (from yourself), left with nothing but silk-sand drifting and whirling, stretching out ahead.

How can you not follow?

Past the next dune, or the hollowed-out memory of a rock, you might find the place where peace lies waiting for you to claim it. In the realm of barren mysteries, still seeking life's hidden truth, you wander on until you become the wind, an illusion, a moment in time…

You fade into the sun.

oooh. i really like this! i think it can be read as kind of metaphorical as well as a more concrete action - mentally leaving everything behind to find some inner peace, as well as just walking off into the desert.

Yes-- it's kind of both.

This is the sort of dreamy writing I do late at night, where the imagery and subliminality kind of take over. The prompt really led to an interesting place!
