You know, I thought I'd at least have maybe hit Sam Winchester...

If I'd gotten Dean, that would have just been wrong. Because though I like the loyalty and family emphasis, I also know he's a player who sleeps around a lot, and I don't go for that type.

With these quizzes in general, don't you hate it when none of the answer choices is really you? For instance, how I dress? Had to pick tomboy, when the answer is actually "Casual," but the other close choice was "Casual but flirty." And no to the flirty part. Because otherwise, men stare at my chest all day. But maybe I dressed that way when I was single, so I should have picked that. *ponders* No, I tried just that one change, and I got "Jim" from "The Office."

And what I do post on my blog? Porn! And for my pasttimes, I had to pick "Sudoku" from the choices there, because neither "exercising" or going to the movies were among the choices. Can you imagine how exercise OR porn would skew the data? Whoo!

I saw Gregory House go by in the pictures, and I'm wondering how you'd get him. I don't recall "Sarcasm and misanthropy" being a choice in the "Personality traits of your ideal boyfriend" selection. ;)

Wish I know more about Chuck-- he got lost in the Monday night shuffle when I missed the first episode. Got a feeling I'll be DVDing that show this summer. ;)

Darn, I got Michael even though I was pinging for Lincoln (who I guess wasn't an option) with my answers rather than being honest ;p

I was kind of wondering if Michael was an option.

Though I didn't think "Obsessed" was a trait you could choose for your ideal boyfriend. ;)

It just amuses me that I went with the asshole options in the hopes of getting Lincoln and instead I ended up with Michael :D

asshole options

Apparently the quiz writer really DOES understand Michael's personality. ;)

Heh, I got the same one. Seems fairly accurate, though I would've thought I'd get someone more like Jim from the Office.

With these quizzes in general, don't you hate it when none of the answer choices is really you?

Seriously. The "what do you prefer doing" one, where the choices were shopping, soduku, writing a screenplay, etc? Umm, none of those really. I'd say I prefer shopping out of any of those choices, it's not like a regular social activity for me. So I went with the writing one, though I don't actually like writing screenplays :p
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors: M/L postcoital crawdadshalfshellvenus on January 25th, 2008 09:02 pm (UTC)
From what I can tell of Chuck (snippets only), he's sweet and sincere-- which are fatally attractive to me. And I picked "Humor" as a necessary trait over "Loyalty," because while both are important, I'd probably drive anyone nuts who doesn't have a sense of humor!

The "what do you prefer doing" one, where the choices were shopping, soduku, writing a screenplay, etc? Umm, none of those really.
I love sudoku, so I picked that one. Kind of hate shopping. Don't write screenplays. Can't remember the other choices, but if they were girly or involved cleaning, then no. :0

though I don't actually like writing screenplays :p
You'd think fanfiction would be in that ballpark, but just the format of screenplays alone wears me out. Every now and then someone will write a fic in screenplay format (Ooh! Ooh, show! Lookit!), but I find them totally unreadable. Writing one could only be worse. ;)
mooyoo: BoB - WebsterTouchmooyoo on January 25th, 2008 09:37 pm (UTC)
Yeah, Chuck seems like a show I'd like, but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. Probably over the summer, or once shows have completely run out of new episodes. I picked humor too, though that one was hard. There were a couple that are important, but I'm with you - humor trumps the other choices for me.

You'd think fanfiction would be in that ballpark, but just the format of screenplays alone wears me out.

Exactly. And I think my problem with writing (and reading) them is that I tend to write a lot of description and internal stuff, and don't always feel quite as comfortable writing dialoge. Was talking about this with a coworker recently, who is a writer and has written a couple screenplays, and he said basically the opposite - that when he writes he uses a lot of dialoge and much more brief descriptions of action, and really likes writing screenplays because of it.

Every now and then someone will write a fic in screenplay format (Ooh! Ooh, show! Lookit!), but I find them totally unreadable.

Yeah, which I'm just really not into. The whole reason I read and write fanfic is to get more than I get from the show, so in addition to simply stories that we won't get to ever see in canon, I like just being able to understand better what characters are thinking and feeling and seeing, which you just really don't get from a script or screenplay.
The Good, The Bad and The Lanathelana on January 25th, 2008 09:50 pm (UTC)
I tried Chuck a bunch of times and something about it gives me a total headache. However, a lot of people love it, so I assume it's actually very good if I could just sit through it, but I just can't. What a pity.
mooyoomooyoo on January 25th, 2008 10:05 pm (UTC)
Why does it give you a headache? Is it filmed in a weird way?
The Good, The Bad and The Lana: animated Lincolnthelana on January 25th, 2008 10:11 pm (UTC)
The strange thing is... not really. Or rather, it doesn't have the thing that normally bugs me like being filmed too dark or serious. If anything I would say too quirky, except Pushing Daisies is way quirkier and that I like well enough.

I can't really put my finger on it, but something about it just makes me nervous.

HSV might like it though, it seems like a more well done/high money version of Reaper (yesterday was the last of the new episodes though), except with spies instead of demons.
The Good, The Bad and The Lanathelana on January 25th, 2008 10:21 pm (UTC)
Maybe irritating would be a better word than nervous. But I guess it's just one of those things where you have an odd reaction to something, not something that has anything to do with the quality of the show.

I sort of wish I'd watched Chuck before too, because I just realized Adam Baldwin (Jayne from Firefly) is on it!

I did this quiz and got some guy from Gossip Girl, which I have no clue about. I got him twice, so I gave up. :*(
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphorshalfshellvenus on January 25th, 2008 10:49 pm (UTC)
I saw the ads for Gossip Girl this summer, and some guy on it was fairly cute. But then the show started, and it was all CW plastic, and so much for ever watching that!

If it weren't for Supernatural and Reaper and (once) Smallville, I'd never have turned on the CW at all. I absolutely hate the rest of their programming.
Cody: Geekinessmercurybard on January 25th, 2008 10:01 pm (UTC)
Let me put it this way: Chuck is adorably attached to his big sister and when the Buy More store (a knock on Best Buy) was recently cleaned out, the manager accused him of being the only one capable of masterminding such an operation. He has no fighting skills and once inadvertantly tortured his NSA handler by talking to his best friend, Morgan (found in a dumpster by circus freaks and raised as one of their own), about lunch meat for four hours. I love that show. I can't wait for the dvds.
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphorshalfshellvenus on January 25th, 2008 10:50 pm (UTC)
I saw a snippet of the later parts of last night's show, and found myself wondering if perhaps aliens were involved.

But I tend to like quirky humor, so long as it's actually funny. THe Office, for instance, is rarely funny for me. :(
Cody: Crazymercurybard on January 26th, 2008 06:29 am (UTC)
I've never found The Office to be particularly funny either. However, Chuck sort of reminds me of Wonderfalls with crazy spy drama instead of magical realism.
black_regalia on January 25th, 2008 10:28 pm (UTC)
I got Dean, which, I was happy I got someone from SPN, but...really? I mean...really?

Then I realized there were four possible options:

House, from House.
Sawyer, from Lost.
Dean, from SPN.
Chuck, from Chuck.

So, apparently a fair demographic of possible male suitors is:

A cynical asshole.
A bastard with a heart of gold.
A bastard with a Christ complex.
The nerdy guy.

(Bastard used with all affection, as I love both Sawyer and Dean X) All the same. They're not the most moral people.)

It's also a little sad that Sam wasn't included! ;_; It's not like Dean's the main character!....then again, Sawyer's kind of a random selection too.
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphorshalfshellvenus on January 25th, 2008 10:52 pm (UTC)
Someone got Michael Scofield from Prison Break, and I saw Peter Petrelli and of course Jim from The Office.

So, were these the only choices available to you then? As in, you tweaked a few answers to different aspects of yourself, and got one of the other choices?

I keep wondering for House, who DOES want that? "Yeah, I'm looking for a guy to make me feel really bad about myself!" :0

God, have they not watched the show? He's only like that for SAM, and still an ass half the time even then.

Because otherwise, it's a romance novel formula: he's a jerk, but you can redeem him. *snerk*

Yeaahhhhh, only that Dean doesn't completely exist, now does he? Have to take the bad with the good. *grins* Yep, Dean is totally spoken for, already. Or, he could be a little like Jack Harkness: loving one person yet able to sleep with anything with a post code.

It's not evil-- lots of people love it (some of them on my f-list, in fact)!

Het has no appeal for me personally, but aside from that, Faith always came off as a sociopath to me, and that's... very unappealing. Even with all his problems/issues, I wouldn't wish THAT on Dean. :0

With these quizzes in general, don't you hate it when none of the answer choices is really you?

You mean, with every single question?

I think the thing is that these quizzes are made with teeny bopper girls in mind. Not just teenage girls, but the kind who actually read Cosmo Girl and Seventeen. Notice, in the personal style question, the lack of 'professional', 'sexy', or 'goth' type options.

Damn, what does that say about us? That we're too old to be wasting time finding out who are TV boyfriends are? Oh well. Fuck 'em.

I got Peter Petrelli. Could have been worse.
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphorshalfshellvenus on January 26th, 2008 01:37 am (UTC)
You mean, with every single question?
Oh god yes!

Well, virtually every one. Even the first "Romantic date" one... if they'd said Dinner at a nice restaurant instead of Dinner at an expensive French restaurant, I'd have picked it. But I had to go with picnic instead, because while DVD night is great the pizza part kills the romance.

For the "traits you want," I basically wanted ALL of "loyal," "respects you," "humor," "finds you hot." But since I had to pick one, I went with humor because that is the minimum mandatory trait.

And Brains vs. Brawn (or both), well... I'm not big on brawn. I like fit and lean, actually, but but that's not brawn. So I had to choose "Brains." Boy, is THAT restrictive!

I only had to change my clothing style to get Jim instead of Chuck. To get Peter, I changed what I posted on my blog from "political diatribes" (hahaha) to "cute pictures" (see how neither one is really correct?), and my weekend activity to writing screenplays instead of sudoku and voila! But on the other questions I had to answer as close to honestly as possible, or often... the least wrong answer.

Damn, what does that say about us?
Well, clearly real grown ups do not fit that survey particularly well. Unless you're a former sorority girl like my sister, in which case I'll bet there is a non-waffly answer to every one of those questions!

I know! Like the only measure of a man's beauty is in the circumference of his bicep. Just like a woman's beauty is measured in the matrix of her cup size the concavity of her belly. *is outraged*

I got Dean. Probably because I chose loyalty over humor and said I liked "to blogg about my sex lfe in lurid details", which I don't. But it was the closest thing to "like to read other peoples stories about the lurid details of some tv characters sex life".
I can live with Dean.
Chuck is adorable, love that show. No aliens though, yet.

Probably because I chose loyalty over humor
I so knew that "loyalty" was a key choice in getting Dean, and that was probably my #2 trait given their list but I had to pick humor first (and pinged on the more goofball characters). Because a person without a sense of humor is not going to be happy with me, and I definitely won't be happy with them!

But it was the closest thing to "like to read other peoples stories about the lurid details of some tv characters sex life".
:D I couldn't pick that one, even though it was the closest to "write porny storys about TV characters' sex lives." Which I do a lot! But my own actual details? Much more private about that-- including in person. I've never been comfortable talking about explicit sex with anyone. (Who knew?)

Chuck is adorable, love that show. No aliens though, yet.
If only I'd had more working DVD/VCRs this fall! Between Prison Break (must-watch) and Aliens In America (too cute to resist the first few episodes), I didn't record Chuck-- and that was probably a huge mistake. I'm looking forward to catching up on it later, though. It really does sound like my kind of show. :)

I'm more intrigued by Dean's character than Sam's, though I don't say "like" because to me Dean's pretty unlikeable! Sam is more likeable, but there's that baby-of-the-family petulance that rubs me the wrong way (perhaps because I'm an oldest child, so I get where Dean's coming from a lot of the time on that issue).

though both Winchester are not made for any relationship...
Boy, isn't THAT the truth. Sam did have a successful relationship, until the whole burning-on-the-ceiling thing (talk about a relationship turnoff!). And Dean... even representing him as any kind of boyfriend seems outright fraud to me! :0

There was a certain, surprising randomness to some of the questions.

As in, among other things, "Wait, I'm saving the world now? That doesn't really seem like me!"

Chuck IS pretty cute, and he's got that heart-of-gold thing I find absolutely fatal. Though if he's living with his parents or somethign like that, well... the deal's off!
